What is BIM?
BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a unique approach of design, construction, operation and repair of the facility. BIM allows managing a life cycle of the facility at every step of its existing from a conceptual model to demolition and assessment of amount of construction garbage
The main difference of BIM from other types of design is collection and complex processing of all architectural and construction, technological, economic, operating information in one information environment i.e. BIM-model. Moreover, all these elements of the model are interconnected and interdependent, which gives a factor of realism to the model (proximity to a real facility and real situation)
Advantages of BIM in comparison with CAD
Technologies of information modeling have a great number of advantages. A small change to spatial thinking of a designer leads to a dramatic reduction of risks of mistakes, physical and intellectual collisions. The designer has a chance and necessity to consider the building a whole three-dimensional facility that exists at a certain time, but not just a set of drawings for expertise.
